#45 Mt Waumbek 4006' Monday Jan 7, 2013.
Star King Trailhead is a short walk up Star King Road off Rt 2
Winter parking is available nearby on Rt 2.
Trail was well broken out by the weekend snowshoe traffic.
I think this was the first hike that I wore mine from beginning to end.
Heavy snow on the firs just below Star King peak

#45 Mt Waumbek
View from a clearing made by Hurricane Sandy just North Of the Waumbek peak.
The Presidents stayed in the clouds.
Back at Star King there were two other hikers so I had them take a picture.
They were the only other hikers on this trail that day. That's why I like hiking on Mondays in the winter. Every one breaks the trail out for me on the weekend then I have the trail to myself Monday.
Old stone well - fairley close to the trailhead -
funny, I didn't notice it going up.
Looking back at the trailhead
Star King Road
- short walk from the trail head to were I parked on Rt 2
Best view of the day was back down on Rt 2.
Same view of the Presidents as I'm starting to drive home
Mt Lafeyette half in the shadow from Mt Cannon.
Mt Cannon - only 4:15 Pm and no skiing?
